The Scottish Police College is unique amongst police training establishments worldwide as it is responsible for training every police officer in Scotland from new recruits to the service through to events for chief officers attending strategic level command courses.

The vision of the Scottish Police College is to;

The College delivers basic and advanced training for detectives including surveillance, intelligence management and training for senior investigating officers (SIO’s). The College has a dedicated Road Policing Unit which has extensive experience of training road policing officers in advanced driving techniques, collision investigation and pursuit management.

The strategic intent of the International Development Unit of the Scottish Police College is to

“Support the development and delivery of fair and effective policing throughout the world”

The Scottish Police College has an extensive history and experience of working in partnership with other police organisations, government departments, Universities and the Scottish Qualifications Authority in relation to the development and delivery of high quality police training.  The International Development Unit currently supports a number of United Kingdom and Scottish Government led international policing projects and support operations in countries as far apart as Guyana (South America), Malawi and Sri Lanka. 

This concentration of capability, experience and expertise combines to provide our international partners with access to high quality learning and developmental  opportunities for police officers and police staff involved in all aspects of operational policing including criminal investigation, leadership and management and performance measurement.
