Application

Updated 28th July 2010:
Central Scotland Police:   No further applications will be accepted until further notice.
Fife Constabulary:   Fife continues to accept applications at present but these are under an on-going review and could be subject to change at any time. Applicants should also be aware that, at present, they would be joining a recruitment 'pool' and it is impossible to say precisely how long they may have to wait for appointment.
Lothian & Borders Police:   No further applications will be accepted until further notice.
Tayside:   No further applications will be accepted until further notice.

You should be aware of the following information, which may assist you in preparing for the recruitment process.

Initial sift: A rigorous sift of the application form takes place and currently around a third are being rejected at this stage. The Personal Skills and Experiences section can contain very important information in support of the application and candidates are advised to pay particular attention to this section.

SET (Standard Entrance Test):  Please ensure that you have made yourself familiar with the sample exam paper which is available on this website. Slightly under a third of candidates fail this part of the process and candidates are advised not to underestimate this area.

Fitness Assessment: A high number of candidates are failing to meet the required standard. Candidates should not wait until they apply before beginning a fitness regime - rather they should already have a reasonable degree of fitness that they can build upon in preparation for the assessment event.

Assessment Element: The areas of competence being assessed are as follows:

  • Effective Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Problem Solving
  • Personal awareness and Effectiveness
  • Respect for Diversity

Well over half the candidates are successful at this stage.

Applicants wishing to apply should now complete their application through e-recruitment.

All correspondence with the Recruitment Team will be by email.
It is known that with some recognised electronic mail providers, unless you save the corresponding senders details srs-no-reply@igrasp.com to your e-mail address book, our response will likely have to be recovered from your junk email folder.
