CODPS

The Chief Officers' Development Programme in Scotland (CODPS) commenced in 2008 and was designed as an excellent opportunity for chief officers and their executive teams members, as well as external stakeholders such as the Scottish Government, the NHS and the Scottish Fire Service, to get together to share learning and development on current and future issues. These events usually take place at the Scottish Police College.

To date the CODPS has held the following events: Islamic Communities - Making the Links, Leading Change, Operations Niche & Seagram, Personal Resilience in Command, and Implications of the Corporate Homicide Act 2008.

The theme for 2010 is 'Professional & Personal Skills' and the programme consists of:

  • Monday 29 March - Strategic Action Learning Sets
  • Thursday 17 June - Motivational Speaker
  • Thusrday 23 September - Operation Crimond
  • November - Shared Services Debate (date TBC)

SCDS manage the administration of this programme. Invitations will be sent by email approximately 4 weeks prior to each event. For further information please contact SCDS.

Strategic Learning Sets
During 2009 Strategic Learning Sets for Executives were successfully introduced. These sets comprised of a varied group of executive members from differing agencies who met up regularly to work collectively on problem solving, information sharing and lessons learned. These sets are currently being evaluated and it is hoped that these will run again with a new group of members in 2010.
